Well, I finally got around to designing my portfolio website! I would like to get some feedback before I move into development, just encase I'm headed in the wrong direction.

Please keep in mind most of the content is for placement only (images and some copy).

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the design and layout.

Thank you for your time!

UPDATE - I have revised the design to not include the large black footer under the copyright copy. I can't overwrite the concept images here.

Design looks good but I think

Design looks good but I think you've got 'Curtis Scott - North Virginia Web Designer' repeated too many times (four). Also, if you're going to capitalise North Viriginia Web Designer, then you should do the same for ExpressionEngine Developer, although my preference would be to use sentence rather than title case.

Hey Tyssen thanks for the feedback

I thought having keywords repeated within your content is best practices?

Maybe I should change the wording a little like:

  • Curtis Scott - Northern Virginia Web Designer
  • Curtis Scott
  • Northern Virginia Web Designer
  • Curtis Scott Web Designer

Would these four suffice and help with SEO? Know of any good articles or places to research for best practices on keyword use and placements.

Repeating keywords is a good

Repeating keywords is a good idea but you can take it too far. For a start, Curtis and Scott aren't keywords that people are likely to be searching for. And the aim should always be to optimise your site for visitors first and search engines second; search engines like people-friendly pages. Try turning styles off or listening to your page via a screenreader (there are some free ones out there you can test with) - if your page content comes across as repetitive, then you should think about changing it.

I agree with Tyssen. It's

I agree with Tyssen. It's nicely done, but I don't know if you even need the pre-amble at the top of the pages - it makes it look a bit cluttered to me. Definitely remove the NVWD bit from the copyright footer.

I also don't know why "experienced web designer" is underlined - I guess it will be a link, but to where? and is it necessary?
