This page (please ignore others) is looking fine in my version of Netscape 6 but one person has said that the stars and red banner image which repeats (cell background image) down the far right of the screen - just does not appear. No complaints in IE

Could some people have a look and see if it displays in their version of NS6 and above please.

Jackie,

The page renders fine for me in NS7.01 under WinXP - I have no problems with the red banner and star image. Is there any way you can find out on what platform the problem occurred?

Cheers,
Sven.

Page (image) display check for Netscape 6 please

Thanks for looking Sven

Not until Monday morning now.
He was using 6.01, I was using 6.2 but the css should work in 6.0+.
He last night downloaded/upgraded to Version 7 and now says he can see it OK.
He might have had a corruption problem perhaps. Although it shows fine in my 6.2, I would like an independant confirmation that it can be seen OK in that version 6.
What do you think the operating systemm problem might be?

Regards
Jackie

I've just dusted off a copy of Netscape 6.01, and sure enough it's not displaying the graphic.

The problem turns out to be the fact that the table cell that contains the graphic does not actually have content, so NS6.01 doesn't bother to render anything. Adding any content, even just a non-breaking space, fixes the problem:

<TD class="right" vAlign=top align=right width="20%"
background="red_bar_2.gif"
rowSpan=3>& n b s p</TD></TR>

Cheers,
Sven.

Thanks so much for investigating this Sven and a great answer.
I used FrontPage to add the space and it placed it at the end of the line rather than next to the colum span - hope this is OK. I have uploaded it.
<td class="right" width="20%" rowspan="3" background="images/red_bar_2.gif" align="right" valign="top">&</td>
I really appreciate your time and trouble to provide such an accurate answer.
Kind regards

Jackie
