I seem to recall that we have a lot of marshal arts fans that use this forum so I thought I'd let you know that I recently cross-trained to Kyokushinkai, having previously practised Judo, Taekwondo, boxing, Shotokan and JKD (the original philosophy and approach).
Kyokushinkai rocks! It's full contact (so you can get hurt ), you work harder than with any other style I know of, and the gradings are very hard to pass requiring exacting standards in the face of near exhaustion. But in terms of a workable combination of very effective self defence and the 'budo' discipline of a structured style, it really is worth looking at. Like all these things it depends upon the individual club and Sensi, but I thought I'd pass it on all the same.
Hi Roy, So that's what keeps
Hi Roy,
So that's what keeps you busy these days.
Nice to see you still pop in occasionally.
Have a good Christmas.

Yo; Tony
A fit body leads to a fit mind, so I always find time for sports, even though I'm now in my late forties! I intend to return to the forum as a regular contributor one day, but I'm still having a very very busy year. The plus side of that is that I'm financially comfortable. The negative side is that I don't get time to enjoy the things that I can afford to buy. Apparently we've got a new conservatory somewhere, but I haven't had time to sit in it and relax
HI Roy good to hear from
HI Roy good to hear from you, glad things are going well, do be careful with all this full contact stuff at our age recovery tends to take longer er not, of course, that I would know anything about being that old.
Merry Christmas mate. edit: seasonal greeting removed and posted to correct thread!

You cheeky fooker  ...are you not older than me? ...I think so
Anyway, what is this forum coming to? I deliberately kept this Karate post separate to the Merry Christmas one to keep order and discipline, and you go and ruin my efforts by wishing me a merry Christmas here! Is no one keeping you in line now Hugo? What other heinous crimes are you committing in my absence? ...theft? ...murder? ...playing GT4 with traction control enabled?
I demand that you withdraw your Merry Christmas and post it in the correct place :curse: ...tisk!
I'm just my usual old
I'm just my usual old cantankerous self *sigh* getting slightly worse with the passing years
Xmas greeting duly removed! sooo sorry for being of festive cheer
